Naturally Sweetened Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

Medjool dates pitted
18 dates
water room temperature
1/2 cup
water hot, for soaking
hot water
vanilla extract
1 tsp
salt
pinch
cream cheese room temperature
8 oz
unsalted butter room temperature
2 tbsp

Method

  1. 01Remove cream cheese and butter from fridge to warm to room temperature.
  2. 02Place dates in a heatproof bowl and cover with hot water. Soak 10 minutes, then drain.10 min
  3. 03Once cool enough to handle, remove and discard date pits.
  4. 04In a food processor, combine pitted dates, room temperature water, vanilla, and salt. Process until smooth, about 1 to 2 minutes, scraping sides as needed.
  5. 05Add cream cheese and butter. Blend until smooth and fluffy.
  6. 06Use immediately or store covered in refrigerator up to 5 days. Before using, warm to room temperature for 15 minutes and rewhip briefly.
