Ingredients
- extra firm tofu
- 1/2 block
- cornstarch
- 1 1/4 tbsp
- nutritional yeast
- 1 1/4 tbsp
- soy sauce
- 1 1/4 tbsp
- oil
- 1 tbsp
- white pepper
- 1/8 tsp
- garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp
- smoked paprika
- 1/8 tsp
Method
- 01Squeeze tofu block between palms over sink until no water drips out.
- 02Press tofu between a folded clean kitchen towel to reduce remaining moisture.
- 03Optional: press tofu on a plate with another plate on top, weighted with a heavy pan, for 30 minutes to overnight in refrigerator for crispier results.
- 04Whisk cornstarch, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, oil, white pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in a large bowl until it resembles a wet paste.
- 05Break tofu into 1 1/2-inch chunks with your hands directly into the bowl with the seasoning paste.
- 06Toss tofu pieces with a rubber spatula to coat evenly in the seasoning paste.
- 07Air fry at 400°F for 12 to 14 minutes, shaking the basket once midway through, until golden and crisp at the edges.
